Thank author of this post/comment

Blogger and Wordpress are among the most widely used blogging platforms there is. But choosing between these two is one of the most pressing questions faced by individuals who decide to build up their own professional blogs. For personal use, either of the two will be good, but how about for professional use? Clearly, choosing the right platform is important since your business model will be highly dependent on the blog.

To clear it out, there a host of other blogging platforms available in the market, such as Type Pad and Live Journal. However, these two are the largest blogging platforms in the market with most Internet users familiar with them. These platforms already has some built-in traffic with them that you could find useful once you start with your online campaign.

Choosing between the two platforms take a lot of time depending on your particular needs. While Wordpress may have the greater reputation when it comes to blog versatility and adaptability, this is not an enough reason to choose it. They have different models that you have to take a look at if you want your online campaign to kick off well.

The most obvious difference will have to be when you choose to host your website in a domain of its own. While Blogger only asks you to pay a one-time fee, the domain name remains as a property of Google. You will have to change domain names if you plan to change hosts. Meanwhile, hosting a Wordpress website is a more versatile affair, albeit more complicated. First, you have to purchase the domain from a registrar and pay its annual registration fee, pay for a web host that accommodates Wordpress, and install the Wordpress software for your use. It is complicated but at least you have greater control.

Both platforms also offer a host of templates, but it seems that Wordpress edges the other when it comes to magazine-style templates--templates that offer a lot of visual information and are often used for professional blogs. Blogger is trying to catch up, however.
