Technical skills are not enough to make sure that you have the appropriate website design for your clients. Websites are custom creations that are made depending on the specification of the client. Their input is as important as your technical skill to make sure that you only get to produce quality products.

With this said, we can already affirm that good communication skills are also equally important. Good communication skills is one of the hallmarks of a good project manager. A good communicator has to know what exactly the customer wants and what each party should be expecting from the project outcome.

Many times I have seen projects go haywire because it was only later on in the project when the developers found out specifically what the customers want. In the end, the project exceeds the initial budget. It's either this or the customer ends up with a website that he/she does not want. In both cases, it's a lose-lose situation between you and your client, because he/she loses money while you have your professional reputation slightly damaged.

There are no clear-cut ways ensure good communication between you and your clients. What's only true is that you have to establish a professional relationship and build on your rapport with them. It gets easier to voice out your expectations and receive messages in return. It also helps if regular correspondence between you and your clients are regularly made. Or better yet, you should get someone qualified for business analysis to do the job for you.

Whichever the case, as long as you and your client have good relationship, you can bank on communication as a strong point of your business. This will enhance your reputation online, giving yourself good reviews, which in turn result to good business altogether while your client gets the product that he/she wants.
