Chinese Hackers Attacked SoKor Websites

Next to Soviet hackers, those based in China are known for their notorious acts on the web. Chinese hackers have attacked websites in the past that belong to other country's governments and large international companies.

Recently, Chinese hackers once again figured themselves in the news after reports about cyber attacks on South Korean websites were revealed. It was learned that this was not the first time Chinese hackers targeted South Korean websites belonging to the government.

South Korea's National Cyber Security Center released a report on the matter. The center said they have detected denial of service attacks. The attacks targeted sites belonging to South Korea's presidential office, the National Intelligence Service, US Forces Korea, the Foreign Ministry and other websites of large financial institutions based in South Korea.

According to Korea Communication Commission, the attacks did not achieved its goals, thanks to South Korea's early detection and immediate actions.

The attacks however alarmed government officials, and prompted them to warn of potential threats to the country's computers and flaws on web security measures.
