Google Acquires More Than 1,000 IBM Patents

If you think the patent infringement issues between tech companies these days is growing more and more irritating, then you should ready yourself for more.

Google just got their hands on a new set of patents from another tech giant, IBM. And if rumors are to be believed, these patents will give Google the upper hand on most the patent infringing issues it currently has, and it gained a level more for its own mobile market protection.

According to initial reports, the acquired patents stretch across different fields, including a "Web-based querying", one that will bolster Google's dominance in the search market.

And in a report by the Wall Street Journal, Google's new set of patents also includes some for servers and routers, as well as a certain "fabrication and architecture of memory and microprocessing chips."

The price of acquiring more than 1,000 patents from IBm however was not disclosed, but $500 million sure is too low.

Google has found itself in a string of patent litigations in the past few months, the latest of which is the clash with Oracle earlier in the July, with Oracle claiming Google used Java-based technologies for its Android operating system.
