Webmaster and SEOFacebook A Jar of Candies
Social networking has become part of my lifestyle. I do not miss a day without updating my status, accepting invites, checking my friends' status, commenting on posts that interest me and so on. It is obvious, I am specifically referring to Facebook, which is perhaps, the most widely used medium to communicate and build network online at present. I joined Facebook in 2008 and I am still a huge fan. I am confident that "Facebookers" would agree with me if I say it offers a jar full of candies. However, the truth is, it may also offer a bag full of rotten tomatoes. I used "may" because whether good or bad, the results depend on for what purpose and how one utilizes Facebook. Since I benefit a lot from using my Facebook account; from widening my network of friends to doing small businesses, I encouraged my younger siblings to create theirs as well. I enumerated the positive things it gives but more importantly, I exhibited the possible "rotten tomatoes" Facebook may bring them. Facebook exposes personal information. If one forgets to make the necessary privacy restriction on his account, personal information like birthday, permanent residence address, and contact numbers will be exposed to the whole world. For profile name, commonly known as "display name", prefer not to put your mother's maiden lastname. My advice is to make sure that those information are protected and share them exclusively, or better yet, not to display them at all. Facebook ruins one's privacy. Posting sensitive and delicate situations such as family problems, especially with specific details is not good. Others might give unnecessary comments and worse, unsolicited advice that may not be appropriate to the problem at hand hence making a bigger chaos. Remember that family problems and issues in relationships are best handled if dealt privately. Facebook attracts negative vibes. I always remind my friends and siblings not to post status expressing negative feelings like frustration, anger, sadness, and the like. Posting them won't help anyway and will just create an impression of weakness. If cannot be avoided though, make them sound positive. Say "I am feeling down, but i am sure i'll be alright!" instead of just saying "I am feeling down," "I am broke," "I am stupid," etc. The plan is to share positive thoughts to positively influence others. In social networking, always keep in mind to be extra careful on what you post online. Be selective on information you prefer to be shared. And finally, be a responsible networker. Facebook should always be a jar full of candies. You can talk about...
