Branson Unveils Tablet Magazine Project

Sir Richard Branson maybe famous for being an eccentric billionaire, but all will perhaps agree that his eccentricity is something that makes sense.

Recently, he made ordinary man's dream of flying onto space through his commercial space flight. It's not yet fully operational, but it will only count a few more months before it becomes 100% ready. Test flights have been successful so far.

But more than space flight, there's something else that occupies the British billionaire - making a "real", digital magazine for tablet devices. Dubbed as Project, it was unveiled earlier this week at the Crosby Street Hotel. The $2.99 magazine is currently only available for the iPad, but the people behind it expressed willingness to work in other devices in the future.

Reading Project through the iPad requires some getting used to. Swipe the screen up and down to enable flipping between "pages" within the same article. To switch articles, swipe left-to-right. You can get back to the table of contents by clicking the bottom of the screen. It is also where you can find previous issues of Project.

One good thing about Project and its tablet integration is that it's using multi-touch capabilities to full form. There is an article on the premiere Project issue about chefs around the world. But before you can see the title, Eat My Dirt, you will have to erase first the "digital dirt" that's blocking it by rubbing it off the screen.
Each articles also comes with its own music score, though not the kind you hear on CSI and other Hollywood programs. It also includes a lot of animations and graphically interesting features.
