Webmaster and SEOEverything You Need To Know About ChromeBook
First things first. Google did not create a new laptop computer. They, however, created this operating-system-in-a-browser thing called the Chrome OS, and put it in specially made devices manufactured by Samsung and Acer which will be called the Chromebooks.
Chromebook is basically a device running Google's Chrome OS. And since it runs an operating system within a browser, it will look and work entirely different from traditional computers. There will be no desktop, not even programs you are used to clicking. All you have is a browser which promises to do just about everything you can do on a 'traditional' computer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVqe8ieqz10 In 8 seconds, Chromebook is already fully booted and is ready to use. A log-in screen will appear where you can sign in with your Gmail information, or log in as guess. The Chrome browser is what you will see upon logging in. You can browse and download apps which will make good use to you, like Google Docs, Calendar, etc. You can have games as well. According to Google, all your downloaded apps will have offline support. Despite this offline support feature, the Chromebook basically becomes useless when not connected to the web, simply for the fact that it will not do its purpose, which is cloud computing. Everything in Chromebook is done in the cloud, specially when storing files. The Chromebook does have a slot for a removable memory card if you need to open and save files there, but the Chromebook cannot be use to store your files in case you do not have a removable memory card. Storage is done on the web. Which makes me wonder where are you going to save, say a document you are working on, if both a removable storage and the internet are absent? As for the price, you can get a Samsung Chromebook for $429 and $499 for the WiFi only and the Wifi + 3G model respectively. Acer has a WiFi only model for $349, with the 3G-capable model to be shipped soon.
