Becoming a freelance web designer is the job that has probably the most glamorous image out there. Well, maybe becoming a model or a celebrity is more glamorous, but that still doesn't remove the fact that whenever you say that you are a freelance web designers, only good thoughts of the job come in the minds of your peers. These thoughts include working in boxers, having as much sleep as you want, and having all the break that you want anytime you want it.

This cannot be further from the truth, because becoming a freelance web designer also has its issues. A lot of it. Once you talk to a freelancer, you'll realize that it also has its share of hardships, stress, and hindrances that prevent you from living the way that you want.

The most obvious pitfall of becoming a freelance web designer (actually it's the same for all kinds of freelancers) is the absence of financial stability. Let's face it. A freelancer job is not the type of job for someone who cannot take in fluctuations in income. Sometimes you will feel like a millionaire because of the flush of cash coming in. Sometimes you'll be hard-pressed to make ends meet. Becoming a freelancer requires good financial planning so that you are covered even during the rainy days.

It's not just the income. When you are a freelancer, you always have to be disciplined and motivated. In a regular job, you can always be lax even for a bit especially when you're in the kind of job that does not give you too many tasks to accomplish. When you are a freelancer, you have to make the most out of your time because if you don't work, you don't get money to pay your bills with. Nobody is going to go after you in this type of work.

Lastly, one major disadvantage of becoming a freelancer is that you are prone to work all the time even during bedtime. This is the case for those freelancers who make their own houses their offices. You would think freelancers can work anytime they want and have lots of leisure time. Truth is, when you are a workaholic, you'll end up working 24/7!
