The leaders in the browser market, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari, have all thrown their all out support for WebGL, a standard browser technology that lets you view 3D contents with ease.

And now that the Khronos Group standardizing the technology announced that WebGL 1.0 is finished, netizens should see some noticeable changes in the 3D web experience.

But while all others are joining in the bandwagon, Microsoft's Internet Explorer is not getting the technology. Microsoft has expressed that it still prefers using the existing technologies for use in web 3D contents.

Perhaps some will see where Microsoft's reluctance to support WebGL is coming from. WebGL is based on the OpenGL graphics interface used by existing platforms like Mac OS X, Android and iOS. OpenGL is in competition with Microsoft's DirectX.

Microsoft is also a big ally of Adobe Systems, the maker of Flash. Adobe has been trying to integrate 3D features in its products, but they don't seem to get things right. But things are changing, and they seem to be gaining success with their recent announcement of Molehill, Adobe's 3B programming interface running on Flash Player 11.

The browser market is largely divided into Firefox and Chrome, while Safari and Opera do have a stable number of loyal users. But no one can deny that the biggest pie is still owned by Microsoft's IE, and that enough should make a difference, and perhaps difficulty, in adapting WebGL for everyone on the web.
